Miss Lizzie is featured in one of those Book Lust volumes by Nancy Pearl, and that’s how I came to know about it. This book is a fictional account about Lizzie Borden in her old age.
If you don’t know about Lizzie Borden, I’d recommend reading about her first, otherwise you probably won’t appreciate this book. Her Wikipedia page is a good place to start.
In Miss Lizzie, a teenager named Amanda is accused of murder. Her next-door neighbor is Lizzie Borden, so she befriends the elderly woman hoping to gain insight into how to absolve herself of the crime and remain free. That’s pretty much the gist.
In real life, Lizzie Borden was widely considered a genius. The ax-murderer crime in which she was implicated remains unresolved and is one of the most complex mysteries of all time.
All throughout this book, I was hoping the author would have Lizzie confiding in Amanda, or revealing small clues about how she got away with the crime, assuming she really did it. Overall, Miss Lizzie was a fantastic read. I highly recommend it.
