Seven years ago, Lexi Solomon had a run of bad luck. Her sister was gruesomely murdered in a shopping mall, and then Lexi’s husband abandoned her—leaving her to raise their daughter on her own.
Now, all of a sudden, Lexi’s drug addict husband is back in town, and at the same time, her sister’s murderer is out on parole. Also, someone else from her past is demanding debt payments. This is all too much for Lexi, who’s about to lose her mind. The silver lining in all this, is it’s forcing Lexi to face her problems head on, gain closure, and figure out what’s most important in her life.
Never Let You Go is just okay—it feels a bit dramatic and flamboyant in that it reads more like fantasy than suspense. Lexi’s poverty feels exaggerated, and other parts of the story seem a bit far-fetched, too.
I don’t have a lot of experience reviewing Christian novels. The faith elements came on a bit too strong in this one, there’s no subtly in the messaging. I found this a little overbearing.
Never Let You Go starts out slow, but ends up being an exhilarating ride, all the way to the end. That’s one really positive thing I have to say about this book.
