Father of the Year is the 2nd book by Glenn Puit, otherwise known as the “King of True Crime.” And that’s genuinely a well-deserved title.
Father of the Year is about Bill Rundle, a con-man who murdered his wife and left her corpse on the side of the road. Rundle also killed his mom, and committed lots of other crimes. He even officially won “Father of the Year” after being praised by his son in a school assignment, hence the book’s title.
Glenn Puit is one of my favorite true crime authors. His introductions are well-written and perfect because he doesn’t give too much away. It’s a real bummer when true crime authors put all the gruesome details in the first chapter.
I also really like Puit’s storytelling style. Father of the Year is written almost like a novel, and there were some parts that put me on the edge of my seat. He’s blunt and no-nonsense, which is admirable. Lastly, I appreciate how his hatred for Rundle shines through his writing. I agree with all of Puit’s opinions in this one.
Other books by Glenn Puit include:
- Witch (2005)
- In Her Prime: The Murder of a Political Star (2009)
