Solomon's Jar

Rogue Angel: Solomon’s Jar is the 2nd book in the Rogue Angel series by Alex Archer. Alex Archer is not an actual person, it’s just a pen name for ghostwriters who work under the Harlequin label. There are now 65 books in the Rogue Angel series, which makes for quite a fruitful reading journey if you enjoy it.

In Rogue Angel: Solomon’s Jar, Annja Creed, who is descended from Joan of Arc, is tracking down the real Solomon’s Jar, which was last spotted somewhere in the Middle East. After all, Annja is on a mission of God and hopes to prevent the artifact from falling into the hands of those wishing to summon demons for personal gain.

On her journey, Annja encounters cult members and religious zealots who try to obtain Solomon’s Jar, but she also befriends allies that share her same interests for the good of mankind.

Annja is like a female Indiana Jones on crack. Her background as an archaeologist, as well as her fighting skills (not to mention Joan of Arc’s sword she can pull out of another dimension on demand) make Annja the ultimate bad-ass. Rarely does she find herself in a predicament she can’t fight her way out of. She sounds a lot like Lara Croft in Tomb Raider.

In addition to being jam-packed with action and adventure, Rogue Angel: Solomon’s Jar has lots of accurate and descriptive details about history and archaeology. Overall, this novel is fun, entertaining, and full of extensive information about mythical and historical entities.

Here’s my review for the first book, Rogue Angel: Destiny.
