While hunting for my next book to review, I couldn’t resist grabbing Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch. I absolutely loved The Dinner, which I reviewed last fall, and was excited to see what the author could churn up in this novel. Plus, I love reading novels about authors. Authors have become much more interesting since I’ve started blogging, that’s for sure!
I usually write a brief synopsis about a book before I go into what I think about it, but I’m having difficulty doing it for Dear Mr. M. I’d suggest reading its Amazon synopsis. This book is complex, and I found it difficult to follow. I’m disappointed in myself for not being able to follow along, and also in this novel because I didn’t find it interesting or captivating.
Mr. M’s character reminds me of Noah Solloway’s character from that show The Affair on Showtime. That’s exactly who I envisioned in every Mr. M scene.
I loved The Dinner, and I really do appreciate Koch’s writing style. I’ll give him another try.
Other books by Herman Koch include:
- The Dinner (2012)
- Summer House with Swimming Pool (2014)
- The Ditch (2019)
