Perchance to Dream is an anthology about all things dreams. It’s edited by Denise Little, who’s done a bunch of other anthologies with various sci-fi and fantasy themes. This particular anthology features stories by some big names, including Andre Norton and Diane Duane.
Sadly, the stories in the first half of this book aren’t too engaging, and it took me MONTHS to get through this anthology. The book’s theme and premise are a great idea in theory, but all its stories are just…boring and unappealing. I could barely get through one story a day, I don’t even know why I decided to stick with it.

Fortunately, the better stories in Perchance to Dream are in the latter half of the book. I enjoyed “Dreamfisher” for its innocence, “A Butterfly’s Dream” for its time traveling theme, and “Marty Plotz’s Rules For Success” for its quirky humor.
I reviewed another anthology by Denise Little called Time After Time, and that one wasn’t too great, either. I’d definitely recommend skipping this one, don’t even bother.
Other anthologies edited by Denise Little include:
- Swordplay (2009)
- Intelligent Design (2009)
- The Trouble With Heroes (2009)
