Chesapeake Blue is the 4th and last book in the Chesapeake Bay series by Nora Roberts. Each book in the series focuses on one of the Quinn brothers—all of whom were adopted by Ray and Stella Quinn when they were children.
This one focuses on Seth Quinn—the only Quinn brother biologically related to Ray. It appears to take place around 15 to 20 years after the last book.

In this installment, Seth returns to the Chesapeake Bay area after working abroad as a successful artist. He comes home and reunites with his three brothers and their families, who have all been featured in the previous three Chesapeake Bay books. He’s not in town for long when he meets Dru—a troubled and stubborn (and very attractive) flower shop owner. Chesapeake Blue is their love story.
Nora Roberts is formulaic and predictable, but reliable. You always know what you’re going to get. But Chesapeake Blue sort of strays from the norm in that regard. For instance, there’s a lot of cussing in it, and the sex scenes seem hotter and steamier.
I liked Seth’s character, but didn’t care too much for Dru. I thought she was too needy, and I’m not a big fan of female characters who need saving.
The books that come before Chesapeake Blue in this series are:
- #1 Sea Swept (1997)
- #2 Rising Tides (1998)
- #3 Inner Harbor (1998)
Other books by Nora Roberts include:
- Mind Games (2024)
- Hidden Nature (2025)
- The Final Target (2026)
