Chasing Harry Winston is the 3rd book by Lauren Weisberger, who also wrote The Devil Wears Prada. It’s about three women on the brink of 30 who make a pact to change their lives for the better.

Adriana is a Brazilian goddess and debutante. She’s inhumanly beautiful and can have any man she wants. Emmy is a popular chef whose boyfriend dumps her for the younger cheerleader type. Leigh is a publisher and editor with the perfect fiance, except she’s pining away for her new client—a very handsome bestselling author.

All three women are incredibly rich, successful, and beautiful. But apparently they need more out of life. I’m still not sure what, even after reading this book.

Adriana wants settle down with one man, despite sleeping around all the time. In contrast, Emmy wants to sleep around after being dumped by her boyfriend, considering monogamy didn’t work out too well for her. Meanwhile, Leigh is busy preparing for a marriage to a man she doesn’t really love.

These all sound like lame first-world problems to me, if you can even call ’em that.

Leigh’s story is the most realistic. Adriana and Emmy are comically written, and not in a funny way. They are both very ridiculous and fake.

It took me many weeks to get through Chasing Harry Winston. I should have just discarded it early on.

Good things about this book:

  • Adriana’s tips on flirting
  • Leigh’s thoughts on how she’s repulsed by her boyfriend
  • The chemistry between Leigh and Jesse Chapman

Bad things about this book:

  • Reading about Emmy
  • Reading about Emmy’s obsession with her ex-boyfriend
  • Reading about Emmy sleeping around
  • Seeing the word “querida” in nearly every sentence uttered by Adriana

I’ll probably never read another book by this author, but I do enjoy watching the movie The Devil Wears Prada!

I so agree.. I had SUCH a hard time getting through this one. I couldn't believe how bad it was. I haven't read 'Everyone Worth Knowing' yet, but I actually own a copy of it… so eventually I will check it out!

I'm pleased to see I'm not alone with my opinion — this was one of the poorer chick-lit novels I've read in quite a while. Yes, definitely check out Everyone Worth Knowing, it was much more fun!
