Lady of the Glen by Jennifer Roberson is an historical novel about the Massacre of Glencoe, which occurred in the Scottish Highlands in 1692.

In summer of 1682, adventurous 10-year old Catriona “Cat” Campbell—the only female in a family of men—meets Alasdair “Dair” Og MacDonald, her clan’s archenemy. Cat and Dair are destined to be enemies based on their family’s rivalry, but their undeniable chemistry has led to a strong and curious bond neither knows how to handle.

As years go by, Cat and Dair continuously find themselves crossing paths as supposed enemies—yet, they can’t help but harbor feelings of passion for one another. Finally, at the start of a major war, Cat and Dair manage to confess their love for one another, but unfortunately, happily ever after must wait.

Lady of the Glen is an epic novel. It’s wonderful for those who truly want to get lost in a great story. It has many parallels to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, which is also fantastic.
