Glasswrights Journeyman

The Glasswrights’ Journeyman is the 3rd book in the Lost Guild series by Mindy L. Klasky.

It’s been three years since the glasswright apprentice Rani Trader saved hundreds of children from Sin Hazar. Now, at the age of 18, Rani is anxious to rebuild her lost guild from the ground up after it was destroyed and disbanded following the assassination of King Hal’s brother. But a mysterious fire has ravaged the entire city of Morenia, so rebuilding the Glasswrights’ Guild is no longer a priority.

King Hal’s best option for saving his kingdom is to marry the ugly, shy, cross-eyed princess of Liantine. This will give him access to the princess’ dowry to help get Morenia back on its feet,

When she travels with King Hal to Liantine, Rani realizes that the largest opportunity for making money lies with their guild, known as the Octolaris Spiderguild. Using her knowledge and experience as a marketplace negotiator, Rani devises a plot to save the kingdom of Morenia using the valuable silk-spinning spiders, especially if it means that the Glasswright’s Guild can also be reinstated.

The Lost Guild series gets better with each book. Rani and Mair are adults now, so the ongoing plots that carry from novel to novel are becoming increasingly more intense. It actually seems Rani will now be juggling several romantic prospects. It’ll definitely be interesting to see who Rani ends up, but I’m still rooting for King Hal. Is it even possible they can be together? Maybe not.

I have so many questions after reading The Glasswrights’ Journeyman. Who started the fire that destroyed Morenia? Does King Hal truly love Rani even though he won’t admit it? Does the Fellowship have good intentions, or are they evil? Guess I’ll need to read the next book to find out!
