Remember Me is one of several standalone novels by Sophie Kinsella. It’s loads of fun, and one of my favorite novels of all time!
The story begins in 2004. Lexi Smart is a nerd with bad hair, ugly teeth, a depressing job, and a lame boyfriend. One night, after enjoying a few drinks at the bar with friends, Lexi trips down a flight of stairs and slams her head on the pavement. Seeming hardly shaken up, she walks to the nearest hospital for a checkup.
The very next day, Lexi wakes up in 2007. She now has beautiful hair, perfect teeth, an impressive career, and a rich, handsome husband! Lexi embraces her new movie-star life, but it isn’t long before she realizes it isn’t really too perfect after all. She also realizes that this future version of herself is keeping a LOT of secrets.
Next, it’s up to Lexi to sort out her life and make everything right. Maybe being no-so-perfect was what made her life more perfect before her accident.
Remember Me is incredibly fun the entire way through, and definitely the best I’ve read by Kinsella. The book is a bit lengthy at around 430 pages, but you won’t notice. You’ll breeze right through, and won’t be able to put it down.
Lexi is totally relatable, and it’s funny how the new Lexi has a countless number of “superpowers,” like being able to walk perfectly in high heels and execute power yoga moves without breaking a sweat. The entire book as a whole is charming, and I highly recommend it.
I’ve also reviewed Mini Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella, which is the 6th book in the Shopaholic series.
Other books by Sophie Kinsella:
- The Party Crasher (2021)
- The Burnout (2023)
- What Does It Feel Like? (2024)
