Mini Shopaholic is the 6th book in the silly Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella.
Becky Brandon is planning a surprise birthday party for her husband, Luke. To avoid overspending, she wants to be as economical as possible—especially considering England is going through a major financial crisis.
It’s hard to deny that Becky loves throwing away her husband’s hard-earned money, but this time, she’s dedicated to throwing the best birthday bash ever. Even if it means selling her expensive clothing online, wearing everything at least three times before buying something new, and shopping at thrift stores (OH, the HORROR!!!). How the heck is she going to do that while raising the most rambunctious 2-year old in the world?

Mini Shopaholic is entertaining, mainly because of Becky’s ridiculous ideas and mortifying situations. If you’re having a bad day or feel like an idiot sometimes, just pick up a Shopaholic book. It’ll make you feel much better about yourself.
Same with parenting. Becky’s daughter is an uber-brat because she just can’t say no to her, especially when they go shopping.
In between most of the chapters, there are silly letters Becky writes to nanny companies, financial corporations and the like, which are pretty funny. Those were my favorite part of this book. Unfortunately, I think I’ve outgrown this series, and I won’t be reading any more of them. Can you feel my exasperation coming through?
There are 9 books in the Shopaholic series, which begins with Confessions of a Shopaholic (2000). Other books by Sophie Kinsella include:
- The Party Crasher (2021)
- The Burnout (2023)
- What Does It Feel Like? (2024)
