Wired for Work is perfect for any job hunter who’s trying to establish both themselves and an online presence in today’s job market. Well, at least this book was good for those things in 2010 when it initially came out.
The author, Steve Weber, touches on the most important aspects of getting hired, which involves using social media platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to get noticed.
Before Weber jumps into how to use these platforms as job search tools, he explains why this method is super important. The majority of employers review your social media profiles as part of their background check. Weber stresses the do’s and don’ts in regards to maintaining social media profiles in this context, and gives pointers on how to effectively market yourself.
Wired for Work provides detailed instructions on how to set up social media profiles on these sites, and how to use extra tools on these sites to land the perfect job and build connections. This part of the book is probably useless by now, as the processes have changed a million times since 2010.
You could probably still pick up a few decent tips from this book if you saw it laying around somewhere, like at a bookstore or thrift store. But I definitely wouldn’t rush out to buy it because it’s super dated!
Can you recommend books that are similar to Wired for Work, or more helpful?
