A Girl’s Guide to Life is a helpful guide book for teenage girls transitioning to womanhood. It covers a variety of subjects, from social networking to eating disorders, to dating and relationships.
The book begins with a charming history lesson about the traditional woman’s role in society. It goes back to the 1950s and observes how dating has evolved over the decades. There are also several chapters on self-esteem, romance, and my favorite one called “Going Online and the Digital You,” which explains how to be tactful and appropriate when texting and using social media.

In every chapter, the author debunks popular myths. For instance, on the subject of prejudice and perception, Meier says:
Big Myth: Stereotyping people isn’t a big deal.
Real Deal: Stereotyping people leads to prejudice.
A Girl’s Guide to Life is a refreshing and modern spin on nearly every issue teenage girls face today, and a definite must-read for those who need facts and direction.
It’s important to note that A Girl’s Guide to Life is geared toward Christians. It supports healthy American values, and would likely benefit any American girl.
Katie Meier has also written Same God, Different Churches (2005).
