I rarely read celebrity biographies anymore because they usually suck and are mostly ghostwritten. I read this one because I liked Sarah Silverman at one point, even though I don’t anymore. Its full title is The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee.
I used to think Sarah Silverman would be a great friend. I could make raunchy jokes with her.
A large portion The Bedwetter is about Sarah Silverman’s problems with wetting the bed during her childhood years. This goes on for a few chapters, with some humor sprinkled/tinkled in. Ha ha.
I can appreciate her blunt approach to talking about her sex life and drug use. Those things were relatable. She also explains why and how her parents helped her become a comedian.
The most boring part in The Bedwetter is Sarah Silverman’s thorough and boring descriptions about her TV series, The Sarah Silverman Program, which was cancelled after three seasons. That’s probably why this book came out when it did, to promote that series.
I always liked Sarah Silverman in Crank Yankers and in School of Rock where she plays the roommate’s bitchy girlfriend. I also liked her in Take This Waltz. Maybe you can enjoy her in those shows and movies and skip this book.
What did you think about The Bedwetter?
