Altar of Bones by Philip Carter

Who’s Philip Carter? According to nearly every website, “Philip Carter is a pseudonym for an internationally renowned author.” I didn’t realize this when I bought it. Who could it be?

I initially picked up Altar of Bones because it looked like another Da Vinci Code-type book, and I like those. But this book wasn’t at all like that.

Altar of Bones

Altar of Bones combines several characters and stories that connect in the most astonishing way at the end. The story truly begins at a Russian concentration camp during the late 1930s. That’s when a woman takes her sick lover to a secret spot in the mountains called the “Altar of Bones.” She takes him there not only to escape their imminent deaths, but to try to cure him. In short, pretty much all the characters in the book are out to protect or locate the powerful Altar of Bones, which is rumored to be a fountain of youth or source of eternal life.

Altar of Bones is intriguing, and I found it captured my interest about midway through. I couldn’t put it down after that. I like all the conspiracy stuff in it. It might be fun for a book club because there’s a lot to talk about.

I think it’s about time Philip Carter came clean about who they are. Because if I knew, I would read more of this person’s books.

What did you think about Altar of Bones? And, any ideas as to who Philip Carter might be?
