Catching Fire is the 2nd book in the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the Hunger Games for their District. Now, both famed tributes are under the careful, watchful eye of Mr. Snow, the Capitol’s president. After all, Katniss and Peeta mocked the Capitol and President Snow by “cheating” at the Hunger Games and coming home alive. How did they accomplish this? By making everyone in the world believe they’re madly in love with each other.

Catching Fire

Weeks have passed since the Hunger Games ended. Katniss and Peeta are celebrating their fame and financial success when Katniss gets a surprise visit from President Snow. Smelling nauseatingly of dead bodies and roses, President Snow tells Katniss he’s on to her defying scheme.

Next, Katniss and Peeta are thrust back into a celebratory Hunger Games—a “deluxe edition” that features all surviving Hunger Games winners from other Districts.

With new rules and stakes in this year’s Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta must develop a new strategy in order to survive. Are they friends, foes, or lovers? What can they do to save their District, their friends and family, and each other?
