The Shadow Man is the first book by Mark Murphy.
In The Shadow Man, Malcolm King is happily making his way through life. He has a successful career as a surgeon, a loving and doting wife, and an angelic teenage daughter. Upon returning home to Savannah, Georgia after a business conference, Malcolm starts encountering a series of unfortunate events.
First, someone deliberately crashes into Malcolm’s car in the airport parking lot. Then, a neighbor’s dog is found violently slayed with surgical precision, leaving all signs pointing to Malcolm. When other surgical-like murders start happening, Malcolm flees to avoid being locked away for crimes he didn’t commit.
While on the run, Malcolm meets another victim of the crazy madman—a Native American man who knows more about “The Shadow Man” than anyone else, and who may be able to help Malcolm beat the crazy madman for good.
The Shadow Man is extremely fast-paced and engaging. The author works some pretty believable red herrings into the book that had me fooled.
While this book may be enjoyable for some, it’s a little too long. It drags on near the end.
