Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter is the 13th book in the Aunt Dimity mystery series by Nancy Atherton.
In this one, Lori’s twin boys go horseback riding in the nearby woods and come home to tell their mom they saw a vampire. At first, Lori’s in disbelief, but at the same time, she knows her boys are honest and always tell the truth, so she isn’t too quick to dismiss their story.
Next, Lori sets out to investigate whether vampires truly do exist in the Cotswolds. She learns as much as she can about the people living in the woods with hopes of exposing the “vampire.”
I found Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter largely annoying—mainly because the author goes into very long, detailed explanations about the basics of vampire lore, which practically everyone knows these days. I feel like the world is saturated with vampire media in general.
It’s also genuinely hard to believe Lori’s character lacks any basic knowledge about vampires. Are you really trying to tell me she doesn’t know about vampire rules, and why it’s essential for them to avoid the sun, garlic, and crosses? Gimme a break. I think most readers could do without a full-blown vampire history lesson.
One thing I did really love about Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter is how we get to learn more about Kit’s character. He’s usually so mysterious.
There are 25 books in the Aunt Dimity series. The ones that come after Aunt Dimity: Vampire Hunter are:
- #14 – Aunt Dimity Slays the Dragon (2009)
- #15 – Aunt Dimity Down Under (2010)
- #16 – Aunt Dimity and the Family Tree (2011)
- #17 – Aunt Dimity and the Village Witch (2012)
What do you think about these Aunt Dimity books?
