Secrets To Die For is the 2nd book in the Detective Wade Jackson mystery series by L.J. Sellers. This one is an incredibly dark murder mystery about a serial rapist who specifically targets lesbians.
Detective Wade Jackson is investigating the murder of Raina Hughes—a young social worker who was brutally raped and left for dead. Her body is found near the home of a meth addict, whose son was under Raina’s supervision at the time she died. Next, Raina’s lover Jamie Conner goes missing, and Jackson goes balls to the wall to nail the serial rapist.
Secrets To Die For is so unpredictable, it’ll blow your mind. It had me questioning whether the good guys would really win in the end.
I ended up reading this book in one sitting, over the course of an evening. It’s a true page-turner. It’s also very morbid and disturbing, so if you can’t handle dark stuff, I’d suggest skipping out on this one. But I’ll admit, L.J. Sellers is great, and she can write some creepy thrillers.
I think I need to read a few more of these Detective Wade Jackson books to warm up to his character. He feels a bit too hardened and cold to me, but maybe that’s how he’s supposed to be. Gritty, and he’s seen a lot of things. I do really like Jamie and reporter Sophie Speranza, mainly because their inner monologues are far more personable and open.
There are 19 books in the Detective Wade Jackson series. Sellers also writes the Agent Dallas thriller series.
The books that come next are:
- #3 – Thrilled to Death (2010)
- #4 – Passions of the Dead (2010)
- #5 – Dying for Justice (2012)
- #6 – Liars, Cheaters & Thieves (2011)
Are you reading this series? If so, what do you think?
