The Bodies Left Behind is an incredible standalone novel by Jeffery Deaver, who also writes the Lincoln Rhyme (The Bone Collector) series. It’s just as thrilling and exciting as most of his other novels—I breezed through it in two days!
In this one, a female detective named Brynn stumbles upon a murdered couple in a house on the lake in the middle of nowhere. Brynn starts to leave when she realizes the killers may be nearby and she has no backup. On her way out, she comes to face to face with a woman who witnessed everything, and now, the murderers are hot on her trail. Brynn and the mysterious woman escape into the surrounding wilderness to survive.
I LOVE how The Bodies Left Behind is set in the wilderness. It makes for such an exciting, fast-paced story. This book is loaded with red herrings and other tricks and clues that make the mystery fun to solve.
I highly recommend The Bodies Left Behind for all suspense fans. It’s so good! Other titles by Jeffery Deaver include:
