French Pressed is the 6th book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series by Cleo Coyle.
In this one, Clare steps in to help her daughter, Joy, when she’s accused of murdering a renowned French chef. Joy is the #1 suspect because she was dating the chef. The authorities think the murder was a crime of passion. So of course, Clare and team identify the real killer to absolve Joy.
French Pressed isn’t one of the better books in this series. It wasn’t very impressive or exciting compared with the other ones. The big reveal at the end regarding the killer’s identity wasn’t surprising either. Oh well.
Fortunately, I like Clare, and Joy’s character is becoming more fun, too. I was actually a bit disappointed that Joy wasn’t given more dialogue in this one.
The best part about French Pressed? All the coffee mentions. It’s difficult to read this series without having a steaming cuppa joe next to you. I also like how we get extra education about coffee-related stuff. Awesome.
The books that come next in this series are:
- #7 – Espresso Shot (2008)
- #8 – Holiday Grind (2009)
- #9 – Roast Mortem (2010)
