In There’s No Place Like Here, a private detective named Sandy Shortt has a knack for finding missing people and things.
One day, Sandy herself goes missing. She arrives in the world of the “lost,” where she encounters other lost and missing things. Meanwhile, in the real world, people are looking for Sandy because she is lost.
There’s No Place Like Here is somewhat enjoyable and endearing, but it lacks substance. I couldn’t really empathize or connect with Sandy, and I wasn’t too invested in the story or characters. In fact, as I sit here to write this review, I’m coming up short on things to say about this book. I guess I just wasn’t into it.
Cecelia Ahern is a great novelist, but this is not one of her best titles.
Other books by Cecelia Ahern include:
- In a Thousand Different Ways (2022)
- Into the Storm (2024)
- Paper Heart (2025)
