Undead and Unfinished is the 9th book in the Queen Betsy vampire series by MaryJanice Davidson. This story starts a few days after Elizabeth “Betsy” Taylor returns home from meeting with the Wyndham werewolf clan.
Betsy feels guilty for not knowing the history behind her husband Eric Sinclair and assistant Tina. Considering all the dramatic events that have unfolded since Betsy became a vampire, not to mention becoming the vampire Queen, she realizes she never took the time to properly get to know her extended family.

In addition to being busy with that task, Betsy’s dead stepmom, “The” Devil Antonia, arrives to take Betsy and her sister Laura on a tour of Hell. After all, Laura’s going to inherit the job of running Hell some day.
Undead and Unfinished was my favorite book in the Queen Betsy series. I enjoyed learning more about the history Tina and Eric, which was incredibly intriguing. Before now, we weren’t given explicit details about Tina and Eric, and why they’ve never been lovers.
By the way, Laura has a new, super cool time-traveling ability. I hope it’ll enhance future stories. Another thing I loved about this book were the subtle reveals behind the history and creation of The Book of the Dead.
The ending of Undead and Unfinished was a total shocker to me. I had to read it several times to grasp what was actually happening.
Here’s my review for Undead and Undermined (#10)
After that, the books in order are:
- (#11) Undead and Unstable (2012)
- (#12) Undead and Unsure (2013)
- (#13) Undead and Unwary (2014)
There are 16 books in this series.
