In Bayou Bodyguard, Justine Chatry has been hired to research a bunch of historical documents and journals. Her goal? To hunt down valuable emeralds tucked away in laMalediction—a vacant mansion nestled deep in Louisiana bayou country.
A bodyguard named Brian Marcentel has been ordered to accompany Justine on her research project. This “Bayou Bodyguard” is incredibly sexy and alluring, of course. Justine actually recognizes him from her traumatic childhood.
Justine is determined to keep their connection a secret so Brian doesn’t learn about her true motive for wanting to visit laMalediction. While there, she tries to learn more about her family’s legacy, even though many violent things continue to transpire around her.
While all this is going on, Justine and Brian are acknowledging their undeniable chemistry and attraction to one another. This really spices up their adventure.
Bayou Bodyguard is pretty excellent, and I don’t usually read many of these types of romance novels. It’s tastefully written and genuinely intriguing. I didn’t know who the murderer was until the end.
I also liked the setting of Bayou Bodyguard, which is charming, romantic, and spooky. Overall, a fun read.
