Busy Body is the 21st book in the Agatha Raisin cozy mystery series by M.C. Beaton. This is my favorite cozy mystery series, I love it so much!
It’s Christmas time, and Agatha Raisin has fled her cozy Cotswold town of Carsely to enjoy a perfect Christmas holiday in peace. While Agatha is traipsing around Corsica, an officer from the Health and Safety Board named John Sunday is terrorizing her neighbors back in Carsely. According to John Sunday, everyone’s Christmas decorations and activities are “too dangerous” so Christmas in Carsely has all but come to a halt.
Cutting her Christmas vacation short, Agatha returns to Carsely and is given an earful from her neighbors about Sunday’s attempts to shut down the village festivities. It isn’t long before Sunday is murdered and Agatha’s detective agency takes the case. Nevertheless, this mystery won’t be easy to solve, especially since Sunday was hated passionately by all of Carsely.
M.C. Beaton never fails to please in the cozy mystery department. Busy Body is silly and funny, and it’ll have you giggling.
When Agatha returns home to Carsely, she is reunited with all her friends— the cheapskate wannabe lothario Sir Charles Fraith, the pale and weedy Roy Silver, Mrs. Bloxby, and Toni Gilmour.
Busy Body is chock-full of red herrings, eccentric characters, and a cliffhanger ending about Agatha’s love life that leaves us in the lurch. Beaton was seemingly extra generous in regards to Agatha’s love-life in Busy Body. She was made the object of affection for several major characters. It’s about damned time!
There are 36 books in the Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton. Wow, can you believe it?
I’ve also read and reviewed As the Pig Turns and A Spoonful of Poison.
What are your favorite mystery books by M.C. Beaton? Do you like Agatha Raisin?
