Pearls and Poison

Pearls and Poison is the 3rd book in the Consignment Shop cozy mystery series by Duffy Brown. It takes place in Savannah, Georgia where Reagan Summerside—the owner of the Prissy Fox consignment shop—moonlights as an amateur sleuth.

In Pearls and Poison, Reagan’s mother Judge “Guillotine” Gloria is running for city council. Gloria’s opponent is Kip “Scummy” Seymour—a wily politician whose dirty and malicious ways have made him enemy #1 to lots of people. When Kip is found dead after an altercation with Reagan’s mom, Gloria becomes the top suspect in his homicide. Knowing her mom is totally innocent, Reagan sets out to prove it.

This series gets better with every new book released! Politics aren’t a big interest of mine, but I found myself getting sucked into the plot. I especially love the ever-growing romance between Reagan and Walker Boone.

In Pearls and Poison, the characters are settling into a good rhythm and its diverse cast of characters are hilarious and completely endearing.

The mystery, which is not easy to solve, and the mounting tension between Reagan and Walker make this novel charming and worthwhile.

There are 6 books in the Consignment Shop series now! I’ve also read and reviewed:
