Death By Darjeeling is Book #1 in the Tea Shop Mystery series by Laura Childs. I love drinking all the different teas, and was excited to read this one!
Theodosia Browning is the main character and amateur sleuth in Death By Darjeeling and the Tea Shop Mysteries. She owns a quaint and classy cafe in Charleston, South Carolina called Indigo Tea Shop.
One night, Theodosia’s shop caters an event hosted by the Charleston Heritage Society. A guest is found dead—poisoned by tea—and Theo becomes Suspect #1. So as it goes, she becomes an amateur sleuth to exonerate herself and identify the true murderer.
It took me awhile to get through this book. I wasn’t loving it for some reason, and I’m still trying to pinpoint why it wasn’t my cup of tea. I felt it was dull and lacked excitement.
I also felt Death by Darjeeling lacked humor. It was far too serious for me. I think I’ll pass on this series, which now has 30 books!
Laura Childs is also the author of the Scrapbooking Mystery series and the Cackleberry Club Mystery series. If you think those are better than the Tea Shop series, let me know!
