One Foot in the Grave

One Foot in the Grave is the 2nd book in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.

One Foot in the Grave picks up about 4 years after the ending of the first book, Halfway to the Grave. Now, Cat Crawfield is a Special Agent for the government, in charge of controlling the world’s undead population. Having spent the last several years without her vampire lover, Bones, Cat spends most of her time working and avoiding the dating scene.

When she meets the vampire who turned Bones years earlier, Cat learns there’s a price on her head. This isn’t surprising given her reputation as the world’s most bad-ass vampire slayer.

While attending her best friend’s wedding, Cat finally reunites with Bones, who joins her agency in the fight against evil vamps. She also learns more about her vampire father who raped her human mom years ago.

Unfortunately, One Foot in the Grave failed to capture my attention like its predecessor. It starts out great, but I liked the story better when Cat was a rogue vampire slayer vs a government worker. I also felt this novel lacks the same charm and wit that was packed into the first novel, along with a satisfactory amount of steamy, erotic sex scenes between Cat and Bones.

There are now 10 books in the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, wow! She has also written these series, which also look incredibly fun:
