Damaged is the 8th book in the Maggie O’Dell series by Alex Kava.
This may be one of the shortest novels by Alex Kava. In this one, a water rescue team retrieves a mysterious cooler found off the coast of Pensacola, Florida. It’s filled with random body parts wrapped in cellophane. FBI profiler Maggie O’Dell is called to the scene, despite the fact a powerful hurricane is quickly approaching the Gulf coast.

Working a short distance away from Maggie is her boyfriend, Benjamin Platt. Ben is looking into a deadly virus that appears to be wiping out a large number of soldiers from Iraq. Could the two cases be related?
Rivaling the styles of Jeffery Deaver and Lee Child, Alex Kava packs a great punch. Her novels, including this one, are incredibly suspenseful. Some of the red herrings are a bit too obvious and transparent, but the story is so cleverly put together it’s not a big deal.
If you’re already enjoying the Maggie O’Dell series, there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy Damaged. Don’t miss it.
