Daughter of the Blood is the 1st book in the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop.

In a world with three different Realms, women rule as Queens and witches, and men are secondary in hierarchy to women.

Daughter of the Blood

One night, a fortune teller in one of the Realms has visions of a witch rising to the status of Queen. This particular witch will be known as Witch—the most powerful woman the Realms will ever see in its lifetime.

Witch finally arrives and her presence becomes known, and she’s just an innocent young girl named Jaenelle. Jaenelle is aware she has powers nobody else possesses, so she travels between the Realms to seek guidance from Saetan (the ruler of the Dark Realm) to receive training on how to use and control her powers. While there, she also connects with Saetan’s sons Daemon and Lucivar who reside in the other two Realms.

Upon meeting Jaenelle, Daemon and Lucivar realize they are meant to love and serve her, but they must work with their estranged father to protect Jaenelle before others break her of her innocence and she loses her powers forever.

Daughter of the Blood is one of the most colorful, vivid fantasy novels I’ve ever read in this genre. It’s easy to clearly envision this fantasy world and its bizarre otherworldly elements. The character development is so rich in this novel, which makes it so much more exciting.

On the contrary, I felt it was all very fitting and appropriate.

I also liked all the erotica BDSM stuff in this book. It was all pretty hot!

There are 12 books in the Black Jewels series now, do you believe it?! The next few books in the series are:
